Welcome to Mr. Jolly's website. It is here that we hope to keep you informed of any new goodies in stock (please see the News page)and any changes in our opening hours. If you have not yet visited our store, please browse these pages to get an idea of what we have to offer and how to find us and / or contact us. We don't yet sell online as such, but are happy to take orders and credit card payments over the phone.
Jolly's is a small grocery store in Saugerties, New York (prescisely 3.5 miles East of Woodstock) which specializes in British & Irish foods. Owned by the elusive Mr. Jolly, it is staffed by his subjects; Lucinda & Helen Wells. Jolly's has been described as a "gourmet corner store" and "specialist grocery store with a country store warmth and convenience store hours". Well, Jolly's has a little of all of them. In addition to all the imported goodies from across the pond, we also stock a variety of American Organic foods, South African Herbs and Spices, local fresh produce (when in season), take-out food, pastries, coffee & tea and a wide variety of cold drinks and snacks. All the fundamentals are kept in supply: emergency candles, bread, sugar, milk, kitchen towels and picnic baskets (fundamental to any English household) & you should expect a friendly welcome from Lucinda, Helen & 'shop dog' Molly Malone. And yes, we're open 7 days a week.
We have freshly made English & Irish Sausage Rolls, English & Irish Pasties, Chicken Pot Pies, Shepherd's Pies, Pork Pies, Steak and Kidney Pies and hot Bridies to go. Perfect with a cup of PG Tips ($1.15). Mr. Jolly's Famous Chicken Soup is available every day during the winter months and we usually offer chilli, quiche and at least one vegetarian soup as well.
Our customers tell us we have "the best coffee in town" and we agree. Why? Well, we use Catskill Mountain Organic Kosher Coffee, which is blended and roasted weekly (now that's fresh!) and they use only the finest coffee beans from around the world. The result is strong, smooth rich coffee with different and exciting blends to suit every taste. Our grinders are programmed to deliver the exact amount for the perfect pot, and our pots are frequently replaced. And at Jolly's we don't see why people should have to pay more than a dollar for a great cup of coffee! At $1.00 per cup every one is satisfied.
